76 | Deadline

"I didn't give Julie Powell permission to read my diary.  What was she doing in there?" ~ My mind 5 minutes ago.

I mean really.  This is straight from conversations Somewhere and I have had:

"But I'll probably need a deadline."
"Because otherwise it'll be like everything else I do. 'Cause let's face it, I never finish anything."

"Well, it's true. You know why I think it is? ADD."
"You have ADD?"
"Yes. That's why I'm so bad at housework."

                                                                 "Oh, is that it?"

"I'm just saying, a deadline would be good."
"So a deadline.
'I love deadlines. I love the sound they make
as they go whooshing past.'
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."
"I mean it."

Creepy familiar.  I felt it appropriate to share this, on here, my 365 blog.

Day Blahblahblah | (a.k.a. 75)

Really?  We're still keeping that illusion?

Today I was on BBC America's website, and they were speaking of British television.  (You can't just say "tv", it just doesn't sound correct. )  I am a huge admirer of British television.

The humor is delightfully dry, the dramas are more realistic, the costumes can vary from hellacious to heavenly... last but by far, not least, THEY HAVE ACCENTS THAT AREN'T AMERICAN!

I sigh happily when I hear British accents.  *sigh*  I can say this because my husband is technically British... to the core.

Therefore, I thought I would cheer you up with my top five British shows:
(Mind you, British shows tend to contain far more "dirty language" than our shows.)

5. Survivors

Survivors.  This show isn't nearly as funny as all the rest on this list.  In this show, 95% of the world's population are wiped out by a rapidly advancing flu.  After this devastating event occurs, you will follow the lives of the survivors as they... survive.  It does have Proto Zoa from "Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century" in it. :)

Since I can't remember a funny line, we'll just do a short scene right after the government starts to realize the severity:

4. Luther

Oh Luther.  I already knew you from the above, "Survivors", and I was thrilled to see you again.  This story is so complex, for such a simple main character, I just couldn't quit watching.  I don't really know what to tell you about this show.  It's a crime drama.  One of the characters is so creepy it's delightful.  The plot is solid, the twists unseen and the cast superb.

3. The IT Crowd

The IT Crowd.  Definitely one of the worst in language and crudeness.  This is a hard match for second place though.  This show is filled with so much geek humor it's amazing.  It's a lot like Big Bang Theory but more focus on the work side of two geeks and their techdumb relations manager.  We seriously quote this show on a daily basis.  "Hello, IT.  Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

This clip is where the boys loan Jen "the internet."  I die.

2. Sherlock

May I count the way I love this? It's a mini-series of sorts, three episodes, 1.5 hrs long.   It's as if old Sherlock never existed and this is he in modern times.   There's no "You're like those books" or some such nonsense.  I literally watched these twice in a week.  Bennett is fantastic, and Freeman is beautiful.  I cannot wait for the next series in the fall.  Mmm.  It also included my favorite Holmes quote, as seen below.  Unfortunately the clip is crap but we'll live.

1. Doctor Who

What does one really need to say? It's the Doctor.  I mean, really.  This show literally makes me cry (and Somewhere come very, very close) every season finale.  The Van Gogh episode made me weep like a small child.  I don't do that in shows often.  In just that episode, your mind is opened to Van Gogh in such a heart-wrenchingly beautiful way.  *sigh*  The first season or so, the effects are rough.  You feel like you're watching a show straight out of the 70s.  Fitting, all things considered, seeing as the originial show ran around that time.  I haven't met someone yet who didn't get hooked once I started them on the Doctor.  This is also so much cleaner than most shows on television today.  Very little if any language and no awkward moments.  The only thing that might bother families is it can get scary and one of the characters definitely has a... different vibe.  I seriously could write all day about our dear Doctor and his wonderful TARDIS.  Also, you will never look at an angel statue the same way.  Don't blink.

Extra bit this one. It's a spoiler!

Also, just cause, one more IT Crowd

If you are interested in watching these shows, I'm happy to tell you that they are all on Netflix in the instant watch. :))

Day 74 | PIRATES

I'm so excited!  Tonight, Pirates of the Caribbean 4 On Stranger Tides comes out at 12:01.    Guess who already has tickets?  I'm about to go buy food and thrift a bit because tonight friends are coming over to eat and some of us are dressing up before the premier.  I'm so stinkin' excited!

Anyone else going?

(Also, why do the icons on Bi-Lo Grocery's site look like they are from Japan?)

Another I'm Your Lush Contest

When I get my make up blog up, I'll be moving things like make up contest there.  Until then:

Day 73 | Water

I'm big into drinking water.  I used to go a whole day without a single glass.  I can't believe that.  Whenever I can't think or I'm having a bad day, I get a glass of water. It really is incredible in the way that it helps your brain, body and mood.  If you're my friend, don't be insulted when I ask if you had any water today or be surprised if I say "Hydration Formation!!!" and we both go chug a glass of water.   As hard as it is to remember, always have a glass of water be the first thing you intake every day.  Other than oxygen. That's more important.

Have you had any water today?

How about mentally?  How many cokes and kool-aids are you mentally taking in, without a single pure water?  How cranky/angry/sad/depressed are you?   If the answer is "pretty darn" then maybe you need to get a glass of water and open yourself up to something positive.  Me?  Bible time.  You.  Your choice.

Go. Do it.

Day 72 | Lush.

So the other day, the day of the infamous Blogger let down, I get on to blog about how I've hit such a blogging slump.  It wasn't really forgetfulness or even laziness that has kept me off here lately, it's just a complete lack of desire or inspiration.  I said I'd be honest, didn't I? I found it very ironic, therefore, that the day I work up the desire to blog, Blogger is down. Ah, of such is life.

Speaking of life, life has been going quite well.  I've been a stay-at-home wife now for... almost two months.   I love it.  I've spent a lot of time doing my house up right (not that it's done now).  I taught an art class at the local co-op for a couple of weeks.  I actually miss that.  I'm really hoping they will let me do it again next year.   I've gone away a few times, gone on a retreat, gone in the ocean.  I'm realizing that cleaning up the yard after two dogs that are large now and only getting larger, is going to make me jealous of the people who clean elephant cages.  Oh! And I've been cooking... a lot.  Haven't gained weight or gotten pregnant yet... both things I think most people assumed would happen.

I'm really looking at home based options for income.  I've also been asking God for wisdom on my love of make up.  That may sound stupid, but I'm so in love with make up and I'm asking God if He has plans for that.

That said, because keeping up with one blog isn't enough, I'm going to be starting up a make up blog and Youtube channel soon.  You can be looking forward to me exploring colors, letting you in on make up contests and, tadah! showing you some snazzy stuff for under $10.   It'll be... interesting.  I'll keep you posted on that.

I hope you are all doing well!  Leave me a comment... tell me you love me and you missed me.  No.  Not really.  But it's true from me to you.

Here, in honor of my soon blog, is a contest opening up right now.  This one has the Urban Decay Naked Palette.  Honeys, this thing is so hard to find right now!!

Check it out on I'm Your Lush

Day 71 | I will do this.

This post isn't meaningful.  It's not going to be full of great prose or knowledge.   This post is simply a statement to myself that I will do this.  That I am doing this.  I will not put it off one more day.   It is a moment of needing to say "There is no point to this post except that the post itself is the point."  Because of this post, there is one less day to add to my list of days I've missed.

Accomplishment.  Victory.  The little things.

It's good to see you again.

Day 70 | Back, and my shoes, ironically, are black. So Back in Black.

Here we go.  I'm not really apologizing for being gone for a month.  It was needed.  I'm back though and I've been adding up just how many days I am behind.  I'm trying to figure out the way to go about catching up.  I have had it brought to my attention that it's kinda weird to say "this is day blahblahblah" when I've already posted for that day.  Here's my idea.   I'm going to post daily, and that post will say "DAY" but on any extras, it will be simply the number.  It's that or I combine them into one huge post.  Give me a little feed back if you don't mind and let me know which you prefer.  I should be at Day 103... I'm at 70.  Keep that in mind when you answer.
