Day 47

I think I've found my tattoo.

"bien de ma peau"
"comfortable in my skin"
(Corrected, it should be "dans" not "de")

I have been reading "French Women Don't Get Fat" today and that really struck me.  Could some of my French speaking friends let me know if it's correct?

Perhaps I'll just get a series of sayings on my arm:

"Let go."
"Non-permanent."
"Free at last"

Here's a song from today's listenings on the Flogging Molly Pandora station:

Day 46

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

This is absolutely one of my favorite days of the year.  I don't know when I started to truly love St. Patrick's Day, but I love it so.    I will spend more on this holiday than almost all of the others with fun things for the day.  I held back a little this year, but so far, it's been one of the best days of the year.  The only thing that could make it better is if Josh had been able to be off today.

That's part of the beauty of March 17th to me though.  This isn't a day you have to take off.  If you want to celebrate today, you have to work it out.   I traded days with a coworker so I could be home tonight.  It's hours I'd gladly lose.

I'm not one who knows every bit of tradition.  In fact, today, I learned a new one, thanks to my friend Jer.  Apparently if you are Catholic, you wear green, if Protestant, you wear orange.  Interesting, no? (According to ask.com: "Orange is symbolic of Irish Protestants while green is symbolic of Irish Catholics. On the Irish flag, there is an orange stripe, a green stripe and a white stripe. The orange is for the Protestants, the green is for the Catholics and the white is for the hope of peace between the two.")

I love this day for the day.  I love the fact that it's a day to gather together, accept everyone as one of you ("Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day") enjoy good food and drink, celebrate spring with green and enjoy life.  No presents or cards to worry about.  No one to insult by wishing them a "happy St. Patrick's Day".  It's just fun.  And I rock a green wig, btw.

Today has, like I said, been one of the best days I've had this year.   My mom and I went to the library and grocery.  Then we came home and made Irish rarebit with guinness.  ;-p   Now I have an amazingly yummy smelling brisket going on the stove and preparations for the rest of the meal going.  The sun is shining, the windows open, the puppies happy, and I'm wearing an outfit that makes me feel beautiful.  It's a fan-freaking-tastic day.    Tonight, some friends are coming over.  We're watching Boondock Saints 1&2 and eating and, for those old enough, drinking if you wish. (Yeah, underage drinking isn't something I condone.)

What a beautiful day to be Irish.

(I'm not Irish, as far as I know, except on Patty's Day.  My family line is actually, shhhh, Scottish via Clan Stewart.)

Last year for work, I wore the wig.
The kids
"wigged" out.
Ready to celebrate the day in style.  :)

Day 45

I forgot to mention something earlier.  I saw the sweetest sibling moment on my way home.

There are lots of kids in my neighbourhood.   Lots.   Some of them have been known to run across the road with no care for drivers on that road.   Surprisingly, it's normally the older kids who do this.

Well, today, as I was coming home, I noticed two of the younger kids, maybe 6 at the most, walking their dog.  As the older of the two brothers noticed my car, even though they weren't even close to the road, he held out his hand across his brother's chest.    After stopping the younger brother, who was around 4, in the manner I'm sure he'd seen in his elders, the oldest motioned me to continue.

What a man, what a man.

The completely maturity and thoughtfulness of the oldest made me smile.  He had so instantly leapt into the leadership role.  He was so ready to protect his younger brother.   Not only did he protect his brother, but, he also took the leader role in motioning me that I was safe to keep going.  Which, by the way, I did, after waving to him.

What a moment I was blessed to share.

Here's an amazing video about moments.  Enjoy.

Day 44

First day no sugar.

Ow.   Work will be interesting for the next month as one of my partners at work just quit smoking.    Therefore, I'm off sugar and she's off smokes and the world could get very ugly.  Oddly, neither of us are doing this for Lent.

The puppies got very used to me being home yesterday, I suppose, because today they are o.o.c. clingy.

I can't believe I'm showing you this.
This was... hmm, I'm 24... this was about 7 to 9 years ago.
My art is better now.  I promise!

For those of you who have never RPG'd (RPG'd??), O.O.C. stands for "Out Of Character".   I did go to the high end of geekdom by RPGing (Wow. Now it's getting awkward.) for a few years.  It was fabulous when it was good, and honestly, I miss it.  I miss the camaraderie of knowing this isn't something everyone is into but to those here, you can't be too into it.  You are part of a family and group.   I made some life friends there.  Here's a fun fact, one of my best friends, who was in my wedding, I met on my first RPG board.  The internet isn't a safe world by any means, but so far, I've met two best friends on there at least, one who was in my wedding, and one who I married.  :-)  I guess that means they both were in my wedding.

Bwahahahaha!  Brink just carried Topher's bowl to the porch, dropped it just past the door then looked out with this expression of "Take that world!  I dare someone to say something! I dare you."

Day 43

I've been watching "Super Size Me" today.  Gaaaagggggg.   I'm seriously thinking about going tomorrow to by lemons and then cutting sugar out of my diet completely.  The lemons are so I have something to flavor my water with.

For one month.  I think I can make it one month.

On a similar "remove junk" move, I think I will do a "turn off the tv" month.  The only time I will be allowing myself to watch is with Dearest.  He really does view watching a movie together as bonding time.   From most people, that's total crap but from him, an aspiring filmmaker, it's important.  The way I figure it, I'll get a lot more done, have less garbage in my mind... and I'm only missing four episodes.  I think I'll live.

Therefore I'm getting rid of sugar pollution and visual pollution.  Let's see how this goes.

Day 42

I'm woefully bad at this.  I admit it.  No excuses.  Time to get real.

Sunshine.  The sun has been out and about lately.  It's wonderful!  Even B&T love it.  They will ask to go outside just to sit and enjoy the sun on the sidewalk.  I used to be a winter person.  I loved the cold and the dark.

Not no more.  :-p  I miss the sunshine.  I think it's my BF's fault.  She's the kinda girl that wears flip flops in  the snow.  (By the way, my husband does that too.)  She also is the person I always hunt through candles for.  Once we went to FL together and we decided that the best smell for a candle is sunshine, sunscreen and chlorine.   And teal.  If teal had a scent, that scent would be Sylver.

She's in California.

Can you tell I miss her more than I miss sunshine?

Day 41

Mmm.  I've just finished enjoying my new favorite breakfast.  It's not the healthiest thing, but it's better than sugary cereal in my mind.   It's an oatmeal with a little salt and chicken seasoning.

I know that's weird, but I have never liked sweet oatmeal unless it's brown sugar and apple.  Seeing as I am cutting back on sugar, that's not on the menu.

I also have two eggs, fried in olive oil, on top.  It's so yummy and filling.

Anywho, the puppies are curled up asleep.   I need to get going before work.
